Turkish Driver’s License for Foreigners: Which Documents Need Translation?

Foreign nationals living in Turkey are required to submit sworn Turkish translations of certain documents to obtain a Turkish driver’s license. These documents are officially requested by the Population Directorate and driving schools.

Documents That Must Be Translated:

1. Passport Translation

The page with personal identification information must be translated by a sworn translator. In some cases, entry/exit stamps may also be required.

2. Foreign Driver’s License (if available)

If you already have a valid driver’s license from your home country, it must be translated into Turkish and notarized.

3. Diploma or Literacy Certificate

You must prove that you are literate or have completed at least primary education. If your diploma is in a foreign language, a sworn and notarized translation is needed.

4. Residence Permit or Foreign ID Number Document

In some cases, your residence permit or foreign ID card may also need to be translated.
